Lead Service Line Replacement Cost Calculator Released
By Anthony Ross, Director, Environmental & Public Health International
The Lead Service Line Replacement Cost Calculator (LSLRCC) is a free, multilingual resource created to help local governments, planners, and community partners budget and plan for lead service line replacement. By aligning with EPA’s Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI) and supporting access to federal infrastructure funding, the tool equips communities to strengthen safe drinking water systems while advancing environmental justice and public health equity.
The LSLRCC has earned recognition from leading platforms, including the Lead Innovation Hub (backed by EPIC and EDF), the United Nations Environment Programme – Sustainable Infrastructure Tools Navigator, the UN-backed Water Action Hub, the National Center for Healthy Housing, and Duke University’s Clinical & Translational Science Institute.
This tool is especially relevant for rural and island communities, where infrastructure costs and access to resources can pose unique challenges.
