Call for Donations: 2020 UHM DURP Student Scholarship Award
Aloha APA Hawai‘i Members:
The 2020 UHM DURP Student Scholarship Award is coming up, and we are writing once again to ask for your generous help.
Each year, the Hawai‘i Chapter sponsors an APA Student Scholarship that is awarded to one or more students of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s Department of Urban and Regional Planning (DURP). Last year, the scholarship was awarded to one student selected by the DURP faculty: Layla Kilolu.
As our island communities and our profession continue to grapple with COVID-19 response and recovery, supporting the education of our future planning colleagues is as important as ever. We are again hoping to raise $2,000 to award to a current student(s) or to help recruit a deserving applicant(s) to the program. The funds are intended to help defray school expenses such as tuition and books and to provide resources that will augment their education. Preference is given to students who intend to pursue a planning career in Hawai‘i.
In years past, we have had outstanding participation and we ask for your support once again. There are two methods by which you can contribute:
- On-line via credit card at this Eventbrite link
- Via check payable to “APA-Hawai‘i Chapter” mailed to the mailing address at the bottom of this page; attention: Student Awards. Please also include a similar note on your check to ensure the funds are reserved correctly for the scholarship.
We will publish a list of donors in our newsletter and post to our website when the scholarship is awarded. Please indicate the name you would like listed when submitting your payment.
Your donation advances the planning profession in Hawai‘i, supports graduate education in planning, and helps deserving and talented students who are our future colleagues. Mahalo for your support!
Sincerely,
Tessa Munekiyo Ng, AICP
