APA National Resources: Research Knowledge Base

APA national members have access to a variety of useful resources via APA National’s Knowledge Center. These resources cover contemporary planning issues and can enhance the practice of APA members and individuals in allied professions whom we collaborate with.

A resource we’d like to highlight is APA National’s Research Knowledge Base. This resource provides APA members with curated collections of topically related resources — including plans, regulations, model codes, guides, articles, reports, and multimedia files. The collections provide commentary and thematic groupings of resource records with bibliographic information, short descriptions, and links to the resources themselves.

Knowledge Base collections that may be of interest to APA Hawaii Chapter members include:

  • Active Transportation Collection. This collection contains resources on how local and regional entities are using plans and plan implementation mechanisms to further active transportation policy goals.
  • Food Systems Collection. This collection contains policy guidance, model ordinances, and examples of local and regional plan recommendations and development regulations for activities and uses promoting food access or security.
  • Hazard Mitigation Collection. This collection contains resources focusing on how cities and counties are using plans, programs, and regulations to mitigate natural and human-caused hazard risks.
  • Integrated Water Resource Management Collection. This collection contains resources that discuss how agencies at the local, regional, and state levels are using plans, regulations, and programs to manage water resources in an integrated way.
  • Wildland-Urban Interface Collection. This collection contains resources that exemplify how communities are addressing wildfires and other challenges in the wildland-urban interface.

Hawaii Chapter members can provide feedback on APA National’s Knowledge Base and suggest resources that should be included by visiting the Knowledge Base’s Contributor's Dashboard.
