Please join us as Senator Stanley Chang shares his "A.L.O.H.A." Homes legislation.  "A.L.O.H.A." stands for "Affordable, Locally Owned Homes for All". Modeled on Singapore's world-renowned public housing policies, the legislation proposes to redevelop existing state-owned lands near rail stations with high density condominiums, which would be sold (99-year leases) at cost for $300,000 to Hawaii residents only.  There would be no taxpayer subsidy, nor would the state profit from these developments. By dramatically expanding supply to meet demand, the legislation endeavors to significantly reduce if not eliminate the shortage of affordable housing in Hawai‘i.
